Hello! I'm Suzanne Hutchison.
I am here to help fashion brands produce their products successfully by providing technical design services that support an efficient and accurate product development process.
After earning my BSc degree in textile and apparel studies and after a stint interning abroad, I began working for a uniform company with a small product development team. Working within a small team gave me the opportunity to be involved in every stage of development including design handoff, tech pack creation, collaboration with the patternmaker, prototype sampling, trim approvals, and top-of-production audits. I have worked in many product categories across knits and wovens, tops and bottoms, men's and women's, regular and plus sizes, which provided me with a breadth of experience. I've worked with 15+ production contractors with locations in 13 different countries. I understand the need for clarity of communication, especially when manufacturing overseas.
My greatest strength is my attention to detail. The things I love most about my job are the collaboration process of working alongside others, the opportunity to continuously learn new things, and the opportunity to teach others.
I live in Michigan and work in the Eastern Time Zone.
Why the name "Clotheswright"?
You've probably heard of a playwright, someone who writes plays. There are also shipwrights, wheelwrights, millwrights, etc. All of these are craftsmen of their specific trades. The definition of the word "wright" is a skilled worker, maker, or builder. I wanted the name of my business to reflect the commitment to and specialized nature of this field of work and to convey the skill and expertise necessary to be a designer of clothes.
